Shubman Gill has returned to the top ten in the latest ICC Test batting ranking. India’s Test and ODI captain had slumped to 11 after missing the India vs South Africa Test series due to a neck injury.
After his exploits against England and the West Indies, Gill had emerged as India’s highest-ranked batter, with Yashasvi Jaiswal just behind. Absence from the Proteas series at home and Alex Carey’s stunning show in the 2025-26 Ashes saw Gill move out.
But he’s back in the top ten after just a week. Carey has dropped from 9 to 13, which has seen Gill come to the 10th position once again.
