Smriti Mandhana has scaled the 10,000-run mountain in women’s cricket. The Indian vice-captain is just the fourth women’s cricketer and just the second Indian to achieve the feat. The 29-year-old has 5322 runs in ODIs, the 6th most; 4049 runs in T20Is, the 2nd most; and 629 in Tests, the 28th most.

Mandhana scales 10k mountain

Mandhana reached the landmark milestone in the Women’s India vs Sri Lanka 4th T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. With a single down the ground in the 7th over of the first innings, Mandhana got there.

The 29-year-old wasn’t in the best of touch in the last 3 matches. She had scored 40 runs in 42 balls. Going through turbulent times in his personal life, cancelling his wedding, Mandhana looked out-of-sorts.

Even in the fourth T20I, she wasn’t in the best of nick to begin with. Starting off with a boundary and ending up scoring 26 (18) by the end of the powerplay. Mandhana reached the 10k milestone in the next over but slowed down in the next 5 overs. She finally broke free in the 12th over, getting to her fifty in 35 balls.
