India cricket U19 star Vaibhav Suryavanshi is not a part of Bihar’s round 2 Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 match against Manipur on Friday. The 14-year-old shattered records in the first round against Arunachal Pradesh earlier this week, slamming a 36-ball century. Vaibhav was expected to unleash his carnage yet again in the round 2 game but unfortunately misses out on the contest.
Why Vaibhav Suryavanshi isn’t part of Bihar vs Manipur
As per reports, 14-year-old Suryavanshi is set to receive the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar award on December 26 and hence has not been named in Bihar’s playing XI for the game against Manipur on Friday. He will be awarded the accolade by President Draupadi Murmu in the national capital. Vaibhav is also set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later on in the day.
The 14-year-old slammed the 3rd fastest List A ton by an Indian on Wednesday, taking just 36 deliveries to breach the triple-figure mark. He narrowly missed out on what would have been a well-deserved double century as he was dismissed for 190 runs. His knock was studded with 16 fours and 15 sixes at a mind boggling strike rate of 226.19.
The youngster already has 701 runs from just 18 T20s to his name and averages 41.23 with the bat.
While Suryavanshi will return to action in the next round of VHT, he is unlikely to take part in the full tournament as he will be picked for the U19 ODI World Cup which begins in January. Bihar is placed in the Plate division this time around in the VHT, along with Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
