Yash Dayal has had his bail appeal rejected in a case of alleged rape of a minor girl. In July, the fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh was accused by a 19-year-old of exploiting her for around two-and-a-half years.
The alleged victim was 17 when she met Dayal, who had promised to help her cricket career. Dayal was accused of emotionally blackmailing and raping her at various hotels in Jaipur and Kanpur. Images, videos, conversations, and call records were retrieved from the alleged victim’s mobile phone and used as key evidence.
A case was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Sanganer Sadar police station in Jaipur in the aftermath.
Yash Dayal’s bail in alleged rape case rejected
Dayal hasn’t played any cricket since winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in June. He didn’t feature in the 2025 edition of the UPT20. Although Dayal has been retained by RCB for the IPL 2026 season, it’s unlikely that he’ll play.
According to NDTV, Judge Alka Bansal of Jaipur Metropolitan Court (POCSO Court-3) has denied Dayal bail. The report submitted by the police doesn’t suggest that the left-arm bowler was falsely implicated. The ongoing investigation indicates that he might be guilty of wrongdoing. Therefore, he can’t be granted bail.
Dayal’s lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, has denied claims of the cricketer meeting the alleged victim in private places like hotels. He further added that the girl presented herself as an adult and took money from Dayal.
For the unaware, Dayal was accused of rape by another girl just one month before, in June. He was accused of mental, physical, and financial exploitation under the pretext of marriage, which Dayal later broke off. If found guilty, Dayal could serve a prison sentence of over 10 years.
