Mumbai Indians all-rounder Shardul Thakur blessed with a baby boy

Shardul Thakur and Mittali Parulkar got married in February 2023.

India and Mumbai all-rounder Shardul Thakur has welcomed a new chapter in his life, as he and his wife, Mittali Parulkar, were blessed with a baby boy. The cricketer shared the happy news on Sunday through a heartfelt post on social media. Shardul took to Instagram to announce the arrival of their first child, revealing the message they had kept private for nine months.

“Hidden beneath parents’ hearts, protected by silence, faith, and endless love. Our little secret is finally here. Welcome, baby boy – the dream we held quietly for 9 beautiful months,” he wrote, alongside a poster that read: “We are blessed with a Baby Boy!

The announcement was met with an outpouring of wishes from fans and members of the cricketing fraternity, many congratulating the couple on this special occasion. Fellow Mumbai Indians and former Chennai Super Kings teammate Deepak Chahar commented, “congratulations guys”. Meanwhile, the likes of Dhanashree and the official social media handle of CSK also congratulated them.

Shardul and Mittali got engaged in November 2021 and tied the knot on February 28, 2023. Mittali, who hails from Kolhapur, is a professional baker. Since their marriage, the couple have largely kept their personal life away from the spotlight. However, recently, on December 11, Shardul celebrated his wife’s birthday with a special post on social media.

On the cricketing front, the timing is significant. Thakur has recently returned to Mumbai Indians after being traded from Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2026. In 105 IPL matches, he has picked up 107 wickets and also chipped in with valuable runs down the order, building on his reputation as a dependable seam-bowling all-rounder. MI needed someone like Thakur to bolster the Indian pace unit. His familiarity with the Wankhede Stadium is a big plus as well.

Away from the IPL, Thakur continues to carry responsibility in domestic cricket. He is currently Mumbai’s captain across all three formats. He led the side in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and is set to do so again in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy starting December 24.
