Prashant Veer created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) auction as he became the joint-most expensive uncapped player in the history of the tournament. The Uttar Pradesh star was bought for a whooping Rs 14.20 crore by five-time champions Chennai Super Kings after a fierce bidding war. Veer is the third most expensive player in the IPL 2026 auction so far (at the time of publishing this copy).

Veer delivered a standout performance in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UPT20), having scored 320 runs from 10 games, averaging 64. He was even called for trials by CSK before the mini auction, which pretty much explains why the five-time champions were hell bent to get him in the IPL 2026 auction. The 20-year-old serves as a perfect replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, as he is a left-arm all-rounder.
“I’m happy to be joining Chennai Super Kings because MS Dhoni is there. The way he bats in the lower order, his mindset, the way he talks, how he controls his body and stays so focused — there is so much to learn from him. Batting in the lower order is not easy, but what he has done is special. Even if I can learn four or five percent from him, it will be very useful for me,” Veer said after he was sold to CSK.
In 9 T20 games, Veer has scored 112 runs with a highest score of 40 runs. His latest exploits in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and for up in U-23 made him a go-after player for CSK in the auction. Veer is now the joint most expensive uncapped Indian player in the IPL auction history along with Kartik Sharma.

The finisher earned high praise from former cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin and Aakash Chopra recently. His ability to ace his role as finisher makes Kartik a hot property for CSK in IPL 2026. Overall, Sharma has played 12 T20s in which he has amassed 334 runs at an average of 30.36.
