0.000095% – this was the probability of India losing 20 consecutive losses in ODI cricket. It had been nearly two years since the Men in Blue saw the result coming out in their favour. At this point, it had become a running joke. Even opposition captains were laughing after India lost yet another toss.
KL Rahul reveals secret behind winning the toss
Luckily, KL Rahul has broken that drought in the India vs South Africa 3rd ODI. He achieved something Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill couldn’t do. But how did he do it? Well, he ignored Virat Kohli’s advice and listened to Team India’s performance analyst, Hari Prasad Mohan, instead.
“We had our analyst, Hari, who gave us a few tricks. He asked me to spin the coin from my left hand and cross the fingers on my right hand,” Rahul told BCCI after winning the toss.
The interim ODI captain shared how the entire dressing room was giving him ideas. But in the end, he stuck with Hari, who’s consistently been telling Rahul to perform a specific superstition.
“Before the toss, we are a bunch of superstitions and a bunch of things everyone has been saying. Virat gave me a different option, but I stuck with Hari because he said the same things in the last match, and he’s been the most pushy out of everybody else. So, I said, Let’s give it a try. How bad can it be? We’ve lost 20 tosses, and 21 won’t be that bad. I went with no expectations and was happy that we won the toss,” Rahul told BCCI after winning the toss.
