Batting at number 6, Rahul provided the perfect finish for India albeit a slow start in the IND vs SA 1st ODI in Ranchi

India cricket team ODI captain KL Rahul finally managed to get going at number 6 as he slammed his 19th ODI half-century. This happens to be the Karnataka batter’s first fifty at the position since he has been demoted after Gautam Gambhir took over the reins as head coach. Batting at number 6, Rahul provided the perfect finish for India albeit a slow start, allowing the team to reach a 349-run total at the end of their 1st innings.

Rahul slams first fifty at number 6

Rahul took 50 deliveries to slam his first half-century while batting at number 6 in the IND vs SA 1st ODI. Prior to this innings, he has scored 243 runs in 11 innings while batting at that position, with zero fifties to his name. Finally, Gambhir’s bet to slot him at that position seems to have paid off as he managed to capitalize on the good start provided by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Ranchi.

Rahul’s innings came to an end in the final delivery of the 49th over, as he was caught behind by de Kock off Marco Jansen. The Indian captain slammed three sixes and two fours en route to his 60-run knock.
