Taking to social media platforms, Faf du Plessis dubbed his decision to step away from the IPL as a big one, adding that he was lucky to play alongside world-class teammates and franchises.

After 14 seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. Fourteen years is a long time, and I’m proud of what this chapter has meant to me. India has a special place in my heart, and this certainly isn’t a goodbye – you’ll see me again. This year, I’ve chosen to take on a new challenge and will be playing in the upcoming PSL season,” Faf du Plessis wrote on social media.

DC managed to get a steal deal by buying du Plessis in the mega auction following which he was named vice-captain as well. While he did miss some games due to injury, the veteran managed to amass 202 runs from 9 matches.
