Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal opined that Ravi Bishnoi should join Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2026. After being retained for whooping Rs 11 crore, the spinner delivered his worst-ever performance in IPL 2025, forcing the side to release him ahead of the mini-auction. Ahead of the event scheduled to be held on December 16, Chahal reckoned that Bishnoi might be RR-bound in the next season, adding that it would do him a world of good.
Chahal wants Bishnoi to play for RR in IPL 2026
In an Instagram live session featuring Chahal and Bishnoi, the former claimed that he sees the latter playing for RR in IPL 2026. To this, the ex-LSG spinner jokingly responded saying that he won’t go against the PBKS spinner’s instincts. Chahal then fired a warning to Bishnoi, stating that he would play domestic cricket only in the future if he didn’t heed to his advice.
“Bishnoi, mujhe feeling aa rhi hai tu Rajasthan jayega IPL mai. Ja bhai, vrna meri tarah domestic hi khelta rh jayega. (Bishnoi, I have a feeling that you might go to RR in IPL 2026. Go, otherwise, you will play domestic cricket like me),” Chahal said.
After making his debut with PBKS in 2020 and spending a couple of seasons with the franchise, Bishnoi moved to LSG in 2022. 48 out of the 72 wickets that the spinner has taken in IPL so far has come during his time with the Super Giants. However, he had a sub-par season in IPL 2025 as he managed to pick just 9 wickets from 11 matches. Currently, Bishnoi has not just been released by LSG ahead of the IPL 2026 auction but has also gone out of the scheme of things of the selectors in T20Is, a format that he was once a regular in.
It would be interesting to see if LSG would want to buy back Bishnoi for a lesser price at the IPL 2026 auction. Besides, Bishnoi would be a good fit in RR who will be looking for replacements for Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana.
