The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 now has its full schedule, and the tournament arrives with many firsts. The league will run from January 9 to February 5 across Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, marking a switch from its usual February-March window. It is also the first time the WPL final will be played on a weekday, with the title clash set for Thursday, February 5. Last season, Mumbai, Vadodara, Bengaluru, and Lucknow were the venues.
The calendar was confirmed by WPL chairman Jayesh George, just hours after the mega auction in New Delhi. The shift in window became necessary with India co-hosting the Men’s T20 World Cup beginning February 7, only two days after the WPL final. Also, there’s the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup Final on February 6 as well.
WPL 2026 to have 2 double headers
The 28-day season will feature 22 league matches plus an Eliminator and the final. All evening matches will start at prime time, except the early fixtures on double-header days. Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium will host the opening leg and the first two double-headers before the tournament moves to Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium for the second half, including the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians will begin their title defence against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on opening night. RCB, Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants will all look to challenge MI’s dominance of two trophies, while UP Warriorz continue to chase their first finals appearance. UPW had a successful WPL 2026 mega auction. Delhi Capitals, finalists in all three seasons but never champions, will again carry the weight of expectation.
Ten days after the WPL ends, India Women will fly to Australia for a full tour featuring three T20Is, three ODIs and a Test from February 15 to March 9. Till December 30, the India vs Sri Lanka T20Is will be played as preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 that will be in June.
