Gujarat Titans will have the least of the worries when it comes to filling in gaps at the IPL 2026 auction. The Shubman Gill-led side has retained 20 players ahead of the mini-auction and have released players who were more of a liability for the team than being an asset. The list of players released by GT include Karim Janat, Dasun Shanaka, Gerald Coetzee, Kulwant Khejroliya and Mahipal Lomror. Apart from this, they have also traded Sherfane Rutherford to MI. Ahead of IPL 2026 auction, let’s take a look at some of the players who GT should target at the event.
Players GT should eye at IPL 2026 auction
Firstly, GT need a replacement for Sherfane Rutherford. The West Indian had aced his role as GT’s finisher in IPL 2025 and it was quite honestly surprising to see the side let go of the Caribbean star. Now, there are plenty of options in the auction pool that GT can target. For starters, Andre Russell, who has a prolific record with both bat and ball in the IPL, could be a like-for-like replacement. He has been released by KKR.
Another viable option is Maxwell, who has been released by PBKS. Despite performing poorly in IPL 2025, the Australian has immense potential and is reputed to be a destructive finisher for teams in the IPL in the past. Ex-RCB all-rounder Livingstone is another option that GT can consider as Rutherford’s replacement.
| Player(s) | Type |
| Andre Russell / Glenn Maxwell / Liam Livingstone | Overseas all-rounders |
| Rahul Chahar | Indian spinner |
| Karn Sharma | Indian spinner |
| Adam Zampa | Overseas spinner |
| Abhinav Manohar | Indian batter |
Although GT didn’t used Janat in IPL 2025, they wouldn’t mind having some extra spinners in their squad as back-up for Rashd Khan, Sai Kishore and Washington Sundar. Ex-SRH spinner Chahar and Adam Zampa are some of the options that GT can target.
Another back-up middle-order batter that GT could eye is Abhinav Manohar. The Karnataka batter had a rather decent outing in IPL 2025 and contributed effectively with the bat lower down the order. GT wouldn’t mind having him in the squad as an additional batting option, although the team boasts of a strong top-order.
