After a rather poor start to the series in Kolkata, now IND & SA are all set to face-off in Guwahati’s first-ever Test match. The stakes a quite high for both the teams; hosts India have to save the series, while the Proteas would be looking for a win, just like New Zealand did last year. There are questions over Shubman Gill’s availability in the match, and combination issues too.
Nonetheless, InsideSport takes a look at the pitch, weather report, and squads for both the teams, ahead of the start on November 22.

Barsapara Pitch Report for IND vs SA
The pitch will be made of red soil, unlike Kolkata’s black soil. So, the wicket is expected to bounce a bit more and will aid the pacers. Though, as is the feature with every wicket in India, spin will come into play, from the third or the fourth day. “The pitch here is made of red soil which has the tendency to offer more pace and bounce. The Indian team had made their demands clear before the home season. So, if the pitch offers turn, it will turn at pace and bounce. The curators are trying to ensure there is no substantial variable bounce,” a BCCI source told TOI.
Guwahati weather report
As per Accuweather, there is a 25% chance of rain in the city, for the first two days of the Test match, while it remains clear for the remainder of the encounter. But, if at all, they should not be big rain breaks.
