The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has replaced India’s women’s cricket team’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh with a 5-match T20I series against the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team at home. The series will be the first outing for Harmanpreet Kaur and co. since they won the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
India to host Sri Lanka before WPL 2026
According to RevSportz, the T20I series will be played from December 21 to 30 in two venues, Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram. The first two matches will be played at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium, and the remaining games at the Greenfield International Stadium.
The BCCI had written a letter to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), telling them to reschedule the series for a later date. Back in August, the board had moved the men’s white-ball tour to 2026. The reason behind India’s pullout hasn’t been confirmed, but the diplomatic tensions between the Indian and Bangladeshi governments could very well be the reason.
The India vs Sri Lanka T20I series will be the Women in Blue’s only series before the 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which starts in early January. It’ll also serve as an early preparation for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in England from June 12 to July 5.
