Daryll Mitchell has displaced Rohit Sharma to become the new number 1 ranked batter in ODIs as per the latest rankings

New Zealand cricket team star Daryll Mitchell has created history by becoming the only 2nd Kiwi batter to be the number one ranked ODI batter. With his ascension in the ICC rankings for batters in ODIs, he now occupies the number 1 position which was previously held by ex-India captain Rohit Sharma. However, India continues to dominate the top 5 ODI batters rankings, with three batters on the list.

Rohit Sharma no longer no.1 ODI batter

As per the latest ICC rankings, Rohit has slipped to number 2 on the rankings for batters in ODIs while Mitchell has claimed the top position. The Kiwi batter hammered his seventh ODI century in the series against West Indies, helping in his ascension to the top spot. Meanwhile, Rohit – who last featured in the IND vs AUS series – is now second on the list. Other Indian batters in the top five include Shubman Gill on number 4 and Virat Kohli at number 5.

Both Rohit and Kohli, who are active only in ODIs, will be next seen in action in the series against South Africa later this month. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav is the only Indian on the top ten rankings for bowlers in ODIs. In the ICC rankings for all-rounders, Axar Patel has slipped one place to the 9th position.

Bumrah no.1 Test bowler

Jasprit Bumrah continues to occupy the top position in the ICC rankings for bowlers in Tests after his six-wicket haul in the IND vs SA 1st Test. Kuldeep has been ranked 13th and Jadeja at 15th after the game at Eden Gardens.

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma has breached into the top five in rankings for Test batters after his valiant knock in Kolkata. Shubman Gill, who batted just three deliveries in the game and retired hurt due to a neck injury, has climbed up two spots to 11th.
