The WPL Auctions 2026 are supposed to take place in Delhi on November 27, and now it seems, the dates and schedule for the tournament could be out soon as well. For now, as per a report in Cricbuzz, the fourth edition of the tournament could be played in two legs, one in Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, and the other one at Kotambi Stadium, in Baroda.
Mumbai & Baroda to co-host WPL 2026
The latter would only happen after the men’s teams scheduled ODI fixture against New Zealand on January 11. That said, all this is talks only, for now, and nothing formally has been communicated to the teams. All the formal discussions would take place during the WPL Auction 2026.
Meanwhile, some of the other cities — like Lucknow, Bengaluru were also in contention for hosting WPL 2026. Talking about the dates, again, it is all in discussion, but it could be hosted from January 7 to February 3. The JAN window has been locked, keeping in mind the FTP, and also the men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which happens to begin on February 7 in India.
Tournament from Jan 7
This could be the year where WPL grows, due to Team India winning their maiden Women’s World Cup, when day beat South Africa in the final recently. Coming back to the league, the retentions by all franchises have already been announced. The biggest surprise was thrown by UP Warriorz, when they did not retain the star all-rounder Deepti Sharma.
Last year, Mumbai Indians managed to win their second title, under Harmanpreet Kaur, while the other team to win the trophy is RCB, in 2024, when Smriti Mandhana led Bengaluru to their first-ever title.
