Sunday marked the start of the fifth round of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, and as expected, there were a few solid performances. Prithvi Shaw impressed again for Maharashtra, and so did Arshin Kulkarni; but it was Karun Nair who stole the attention with a scintillating knock against Chandigarh.
Arshin Kulkarni gets maiden ton
It was a day to remember for Maharashtra all-rounder Arshin Kulkarni, as he got to his first FC ton against Punjab. The 20-year-old went on score 133 from 229 deliveries, where he struck 15 fours and two sixes. That knock ensured that Maharashtra ended the day with a decent 275/5.
Prithvi Shaw continues his excellent season
After a few quiet seasons, Prithvi Shaw is finally showing, what he is made of. He failed to get a ton once again, but scored a good 74. This has come after scores of 75, 222, and 71. He could very well be knocking on the doors of the Indian team now, if he gets a good season now.
Karun Nir lifts Karnataka with 95
Why is Karun Nair out of the Indian team, is quite inexplicable. After a double ton and a big century, he now scored 95 against Chandigarh. Perhaps, the selectors will have a look at these knocks, especially after India’s poor loss against South Africa. One never knows, he is actually considered for future series.
