India cricket team star Jasprit Bumrah had an hilarious exchange with Rishabh Pant on Day 1 of the IND vs SA 1st Test at the Eden Gardens. The incident, involving South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, occurred in the last delivery of the 12th over as the batter was rapped on the pads and a confident Bumrah was all in to take a review. South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first in Kolkata on Friday.

Bavuma was trapped for an LBW in the last delivery of the 12th over and the bowler was certain that the ball was going on to hit the stumps. He, along with other players, gathered near the stumps to discuss if the ball was too high and was seen enquiring Pant about the same. While Gill wasn’t convinced to go upstairs, Bumrah eventually gave up, and remarked that ‘it was Bavuma at the crease’, hinting that the South African captain’s short height only complicated matters.
Eventually, the team’s decision to not take a review turned out to be right as ball-tracking showed the delivery going over the leg stump.
Bumrah’s masterclass on Day 1
Bumrah once again proved why he was the best in the business as he provided India with a couple of early breakthroughs on Day 1 of the IND vs SA 1st Test. His first victim was Ryan Rickleton as he was bowled out by a peach of a delivery from Bumrah. The batter, who was looking in good touch, misjudged the line from the bowler and ended up knocking his off stump over.
Bumrah’s next victim was South Africa’s other opener Aiden Markram in the 12th over. The batter didn’t expect extra bounce from the pacer. The delivery hit the shoulder of the bat and went straight to Pant behind the stumps, giving Bumrah his second wicket.
