While the deal is yet to be finalized, it has now come to light that Ravindra Jadeja has a specific demand from RR

Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has put forth a special demand to the Rajasthan Royals management amid the buzz over trade talks between the two franchises. As per reports, both the teams have initiated an Expression of Interest (EOI), with RR willing to trade Sanju Samson for Jadeja and Sam Curran. While the deal is yet to be finalized, it has now come to light that Jadeja has a specific demand from RR, should the trade deal go through.

Jadeja wants to be new RR captain

As per Cricketnext, Jadeja has informed the RR management that he wishes to be the captain if the trade deal between the team and CSK is finalized. The report claims that the all-rounder wants to spend the final years of his IPL career with more responsibility and leadership. Jadeja started his IPL career with RR way back in 2007 and then moved to Kochi before finally settling down with CSK.

Jadeja has enjoyed only a brief stint as captain in IPL. In an attempt to revamp things, CSK decided to name him as skipper in 2022. However, after leading the team in 8 matches, he was stripped off captaincy and the mantle was once again handed back to MS Dhoni.

Consent has been obtained from all three players and the Expression of Interest process has been initiated. All three have signed on the dotted line, but the process will take some time to culminate,” a franchise official said.

Jadeja was retained for a sum of Rs 18 crore by CSK before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Similarly, Samson is also the highest retention for RR at the same price. While reports have claimed that the consent of all three players has been taken, the trade deal is yet to be finalized due to the Sam Curran issue. At present, RR’s quota of overseas players in the squad is full and the trade with CSK can only be complete if they release an overseas talent.

Meanwhile, it is pertinent to point out that RR have several names in the captaincy race. Riyan Parag is the first on the list followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel.
