Yashasvi Jaiswal warms up for South Africa series with 17th FC ton, pulls Mumbai out of hole

Ranji Trophy: Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his 17th FC ton, while playing for Mumbai vs Rajasthan.

Mumbai were in a spot of bother in their Ranji Trophy encounter vs Rajasthan, as the latter went on to pile 617/6d in reply to their 254 in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal had gotten a fifty in the first innings, but that just wasn’t enough for his team on the day, who had conceded an epic lead to Rajasthan.

Nonetheless, to make sure that Mumbai did not lose the match from there on, Yashasvi Jaiswal played an iconic innings, where he scored 156 from 174 deliveries, hitting 18 boundaries and 1 six. That ensured on the last day of the clash, that Mumbai put up a brave fight, and progressed well to save the day.

What is noteworthy, that his opening partner, Musheer Khan too struck form this year and scored 63 from a 115 deliveries. The duo together struck a partnership of 149. Meanwhile, Yashasvi departed when the score read 253. He was eventually dismissed by AB Kookna.

Slams 156 vs Rajasthan

This masterclass by the southpaw could serve as a preparation for the South Africa series, that begins in Kolkata from November 14. The second match of the series will be played in Guwahati. And it is beyond any doubt, that the 23-year-old remains one of the most dependable batters for India in Tests.

In the last series vs West Indies too, he showed glimpses of his brilliance, as he scored 175 in the first innings of the Delhi Test in October. In the second innings he missed out and was out for just 8.
