UP Warriorz are among the few teams in Women’s Premier League who will be looking to make an overhaul before WPL 2026. Led by Deepti Sharma, the side finished at the bottom of the points table in the previous edition, managing to secure just 3 wins from 8 matches. In fact, the UP Warriorz have never managed to finish in the top two since the league’s inception, with their best season coming in the inaugural edition of the WPL in 2023.
November 5 is the deadline for the WPL franchises to decide on their retentions. The WPL 2026 mega auction will take place between November 26-27. Each team is permitted to make five retentions, which includes one uncapped Indian player. Ahead of the WPL 2026 auction, let’s take a look at players that UP Warriorz could possibly retain.
Predicted UP Warriorz retention list for WPL 2026
Without any doubt, Deepti will surely be the highest retention for the franchise at a price of Rs 3.50 crore. The highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded Women’s World Cup 2025 finished with 122 runs and 8 wickets under her belt in WPL 2024/25. Other possible retentions include England’s Sophie Ecclestone, Australia’s Alana King and India’s Kranti Goud.
Retention 1 – Deepti Sharma (Rs 3.50 crore)
Retention 2 – Alana King (Rs 2.50 crore)
Retention 3 – Sophie Ecclestone (Rs 1.75 crore)
Retention 4 – Kranti Goud (Rs 1 crore)
RTM: 1
Purse left: Rs 6.25 crore
Australia’s King deserves a second-placed retention for WPL 2026, given her performance in the recently-concluded Women’s World Cup. She finished with 13 wickets to her name from 9 matches. Despite featuring in just one match for UP Warriorz in WPL 2024/25, the spinner is someone that the team would want to have, given her current form.
Ecclestone, the third highest wicket-taker in the Women’s WC, is another no-brainer in terms of retention. In WPL 2024/25, she finished with 9 wickets and 98 runs to her name, emerging as one of the best bowlers of the UP Warriroz.
Kranti, who took 6 wickets from 8 matches, is another must-have for the UP Warriorz in WPL 2026. In the Women’s World Cup, she impressed by taking 9 wickets, emerging as one of India’s frontline bowlers.
With just four possible retentions which includes no uncapped Indian player, UP Warriorz might be left with one Right to Match (RTM) card which they can exercise in the WPL 2026 mega auction.
Meanwhile, among the possible releases could be Alyssa Healy, who missed the previous season due to an injury. It was in her absence that Deepti was named captain.
