Delhi Capitals star Abhishek Porel explained the difference in KL Rahul’s and Rishabh Pant’s style of leadership in an exclusive interview with InsideSport. The West Bengal batter played under the captaincy of the southpaw before he exited DC while he is currently playing alongside Rahul in the IPL. Porel stated that both Pant and Rahul more or less had the same mindset, while also going on to reveal what he had learnt from them.
How are Pant and Rahul different?
Speaking to InsideSport, Porel explained that while Pant & Rahul’s mindset was almost the same, the way they communicated to the players was different. The keeper-batter said that the more time he spends with a captain allows him to understand better as to what is required of him.
“Mindset is almost similar. Difference is human in nature, Rishabh (Pant) bhai explains in a different way and so does KL (Rahul). But, it is more or less the same as their mindset is almost the same. The more time you spend with someone, the more you are able to feel and understand what you want,” Abhishek Porel said.
Porel has been a consistent performer for DC over the last two seasons, amassing 327 and 301 runs in IPL 2024 and 2025 respectively. When asked about what he had learnt from both Rahul and Pant, Abhishek said that both the stars had taught him that courage and a never give up attitude was needed in order to survive and standout. He heaped praise on Pant for making a comeback after a horrific car crash.
“Firstly, both of them have never given up, no matter what the position or situation is. Like the situation from which Rishabh bhai made a comeback, many people will doubt if he could play ever again. And the way he made a comeback after that, hat’s off. He showed courage. KL bhai is also making a comeback to the Indian T20I side after being left out for 2 years. Both of them have shown that courage and never give up attitude is needed,” Porel added.
