Josh Hazlewood continues to be India’s prime nemesis on this limited overs tour of Australia. Hazlewood put on a fast bowling masterclass in the IND vs AUS 2nd t20I on Friday. Hazlewood struck thrice in a brutal four over spell to knock India’s top order over in Melbourne.
Josh Hazlewood’s fiery spell knocks India’s top order
Josh Hazlewood is warming up for the Ashes later this year with some performances in the India vs Australia series. After having the Indian batsmen on the hook in the ODI series, the veteran has now run down India’s t20I might in Melbourne. With the wicket offering some movement and spongy bounce, the RCB superstar held his line to force the visitors to commit mistakes.
Shubman Gill tried to break free and was caught at extra cover. India captain Suryakumar Yadav was stuck on his crease and edged it to keeper Josh Inglis. India’s Asia Cup hero Tilak Varma was the next to follow. The left-hander tried to hoick Hazlewood, only for a top edge. India stumbled to 33/4, with Hazlewood having figures of 3/6 in his first three.
He could have had more, but Abhishek Sharma got lucky with an outside edge in his final over. Nonetheless, his 3/13 ensured India did not run away with the contest.
Hazlewood will take no further part in the series after being picked only for the first two matches. He will in turn prepare for the upcoming Ashes. The five-match series vs England kicks off at Perth in late November.
