Nitish Kumar Reddy’s return from injury will take another few days. The India all rounder suffered an injury during the IND vs AUS 2nd ODI in Adelaide. Reddy was expected to be fit for the T20I series, but will now miss the first three games against Australia. Reddy’s absence is a major blow given Suryakumar Yadav and Co are also missing Hardik Pandya with an injury issue.
Nitish Kumar Reddy to miss first 3 games as injury issues continue
With Hardik Pandya injured, the India vs Australia series was set to be a massive opportunity for Nitish Reddy to stake his claim across formats. However, the SRH star’s injury issues have hit him hard on this tour.
He played a fine cameo in the first ODI but that has been his only contribution. Reddy suffered a quadriceps injury in Adelaide and has complained of neck spasms since. Ahead of the IND vs AUS 1st T20I, BCCI confirmed Reddy was to miss 3 games atleast.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out for the first three T20Is. The all-rounder who was recovering from his left quadriceps injury sustained during the second ODI in Adelaide, complained of neck spasms, which has impacted his recovery and mobility. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress,” BCCI said in a statement on X.
In Reddy’s absence, India have opted to play Harshit Rana and Shivam Dube as the pace bowling all rounders. Rana impressed in Sydney with a 4-fer, while Dube performed well in the Asia Cup 2025.
