Sarfaraz Khan has become a domestic giant in the last few years, and his overall FC average is over 65 now.

Ajinkya Rahane wasn’t treated well, in terms of India selections in the last of couple of years. That was pretty evident to the fans, but now the veteran has finally opened up on the entire situation. He went on to express his displeasure over his non-selection in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in December last year, where India lost 1-3.

Ajinkya Rahane Offers Support to Sarfaraz Khan

After smashing a cracking 159 vs Chhattisgarh, he told the Indian Express, “In Australia, you see, Michael Hussey made his debut 30s. Still he made runs. Experience matters in red ball cricket. I thought, personally, the Indian team needed me in Australia.”

He also was pretty open about the lack of communication from the selectors. “I thought an experienced player like me should get more chances. And there was no communication.” And Rahane just did not stop there. Currently, another of his Mumbai teammate is facing the same fate — Sarfaraz Khan.

“Don’t Get Frustrated”

Despite consistent performances in the domestic cricket, where he averages over 65, he mysteriously continues to be out of the squad, or playing XI. He did not get a game in Australia, wasn’t selected for the England series, and was under no consideration for relatively easier, West Indies series.

Now, next month the South Africa Tests start, and his fate remains undecided. Rahane said, “The only thing I can tell him is don’t get distracted and frustrated. It’s very easy to say but it’s very hard to do. You can just focus on playing cricket and keep scoring guns. He’s been doing that. But as a player, when you go through this phase, it’s really challenging and tough. But keep your head down and just focus on the controllable things,” he asserted.
