Gujarat Titans had a near-perfect season in IPL 2025 before their dream run was halted by MI in the Eliminator. The Shubman Gill-led side was arguably one of the best and consistent teams in the tournament, finishing with 9 wins to their name. GT will not need a lot of chopping and changing before IPL 2026 as all their departments are well-balanced. However, the one-time champions wouldn’t mind making some amends to their squad.
November 15 is the deadline for teams to finalize on the retentions before the mini-auction which will be held in the December 13-15 window. Ahead of the D-Day, let’s take a look at some of the players GT might release before IPL 2026.
Predicted GT release list for IPL 2026
1. Shahrukh Khan
The middle-order batter has hardly gotten any match time in IPL 2025. Firstly, the trio of Sudharsan-Gill-Buttler scored most of the runs for the team. Sherfane Rutherford, who bats above SRK, was also effective. All this has resulted in the Tamil Nadu batter getting very little time in the middle. But looking at Shahrukh Khan’s records, he has never managed to go past scoring 200 runs in an IPL season till date. In IPL 2025, he scored 147 runs from 13 matches, with a highest score of 57 that came against LSG, albeit in a losing cause.
2. Ishant Sharma
Make no mistake, the veteran pacer is still one of the best bowlers in the business – given that he can still bowl deliveries at rapid fast pace and consistent lengths. However, he is already 36 years old. And in IPL 2025, he played only in 7 matches, taking 4 wickets. He’s was quite expensive as well.
3. Rahul Tewatia
The all-rounder simply failed to deliver on expectations in this season. While he did not bowl at all in IPL 2025, his contributions with the bat were minimal. Like SRK, he too has not gotten much game time due to the heavy top-order.
4. Karim Janat
Karim was underutilized by GT in IPL 2025. But that is quite understandable after he conceded 30 runs in just one over that he bowled in this season. GT do not lack fast or medium pacing bowling options and hence it would be wise for the team to get rid of Janat. To put it in simpler words, the Afghan star could rather come of better use to some other teams who perhaps could play him regularly.
