Smriti Mandhana continued her purple patch in 2025 with yet another batting masterclass. In the virtual quarterfinal, Mandhana smashed a glorious hundred in the India Women vs New Zealand Women match. The left-hander is now the second Indian batter to score a hat-trick of fifties in the Women’s ODI World Cup after Harmanpreet Kaur.
Mandhana makes history again
After a slow start to her campaign, Smriti Mandhana has found her groove again. She scored half-centuries against England and Australia, signalling her return to form. India could not convert those into wins, meaning the IND-W vs NZ-W clash became crucial in their quest for the World Cup semifinal.
Put into bat, Mandhana once again set the tone in the power play. While Pratika Rawal held her end patiently, Smriti displayed her full array of strokes in a fine batting display. Contrasting with Rawal, the duo put on a century partnership to give India the perfect start in Navi Mumbai.
Her scoring pace increased as the match went on, and then in the 31st over, Mandhana reached triple figures from just 88 balls. It was her third hundred in the Women’s ODI World Cup and 14th career hundred in the format. This means that now, only Australia’s Meg Lanning has more ODI hundreds than Mandhana.
