Women’s World Cup 2025: Australia make yet another semi-final

The most successful side in Women’s World Cup history made yet another semi-final after a stunning performance in Vishakapatnam. Healy and Co made it 4 wins in 5 games after their match against Sri Lanka earlier was washed out. Australia hence now go into the their final two league games, knowing a defeat will not deter them from a spot in the semis.

Healy made it back to back centuries after her monstrous 142 in a record chase against India. Phoebe Litchfield played the perfect support to finish with 84 to seal the victory with 25 overs to spare. It is only the 3rd 200+ partnership for Australia in World Cup matches.

Earlier in the day, it was spin to choke Bangladesh in Vizag. Alana King bowled four maidens in her spell of 2/18 in 10 overs. Georgia Wareham also returned figures of 2/22 to put the brakes on any Bangladesh momentum.

Bangladesh struggled against the Australian side’s quality, with only Sobhana Mostary putting up a fight. She scored a fine 66, including managing a final overs push which saw them score 28 in the last three. Australia dropped a total of six catches, meaning there is still work to be done for the defending champions.
