Rohit Sharma was spotted at the Shivaji Park nets in preparation for the IND vs AUS ODI series. Facing a variety of bowlers, Rohit was keen to assert his dominance and played a varied range of strokes. Abhishek Nayar, India’s former batting coach was also in attendance as Rohit went about his work. The duo have collaborated in the off season with Rohit even shedding 10 kgs in trying to return to peak fitness.
Sharma who began his career in Mumbai is no stranger to Shivaji Park. The venue is part of Mumbai’s cricket heritage, with several stalwarts having built their game from their school days. Fans gathered around to see the former skipper in action. Rohit did acknowledge the fans, waving and signing autographs for them while batting in the nets.
The India vs Australia series marks the beginning of Rohit Sharma’s final chapter in international cricket. The 38-year-old remains active only in ODIs, having retired from T20Is and Test cricket. He was replaced by Shubman Gill as captain starting with this tour and will have to be at his best to hold onto his place as a player.
