India cricket team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal registered his seventh century in Tests in the IND vs WI 2nd Test, his third one at home on Friday. After scoring just 36 runs in the 1st Test, the southpaw stamped his authority on the visitors with a 145-ball ton, helping India extend their dominance in the game. With this ton, Jaiswal is just behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to have the most number of centuries to his name as an Indian batter in Tests at the age of 23.
Jaiswal joins Tendulkar on epic list
Once again, Jaiswal showcased his aggressive batting in the IND vs WI 2nd Test as he slammed 16 fours en route to his hundred. The last time he breached the triple-figure mark at home was way back in 2024 in the series against England where he registered scores of 209 and 214*. Since then, he has gone past the 50-run mark on five occasions but had failed to convert it to a hundred.
Jaiswal now has 7 Test centuries to his name and is only behind Tendulkar on the list of Indian batters to score most hundreds at just 23 years of age. Australia legend Don Bradman tops the list with 12 tons to his name.
- Don Bradman – 12
- Sachin Tendulkar – 11
- Gary Sobers – 9
- Yashasvi Jaiswal – 7
- Kane Williamson – 7
- Alastair Cook – 7
- Greame Smith – 7
- Javed Miandad – 7
Apart from the three centuries that Jaiswal has scored in India, he has breached the triple-figure mark twice in England, once in Australia and West Indies each. He now has 2348 runs from 26 Tests and averages 52.17.
India won the toss and opted to bat first in the IND vs WI 2nd Test at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. KL Rahul was the first batter to depart for 38 runs after he was stumped off a delivery by Warrican.
