India U19 complete 2-0 whitewash against Australia U19
India U19 needed less than 100 runs to win the game on Day 2 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay. Australia were bowled out for 116 runs in their 2nd innings, with Henil Patel and Naman Pushpak picking up three wickets each to dismiss the opposition cheaply.
India lost Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a golden duck in the 2nd innings, bring his miserable run in the 2nd Test to a quick end. He managed to score just 20 runs in the 1st innings, failing after doing exceptionally well in the 1st Test. Captain Ayush Mhatre struck three fours in the very first over following which he too was sent packing. In the end, it was Yash Deshmukh and Vedant Trivedi who got India across the line in 12 overs to win the game for India.
Henil Patel was the star of the match for India, finishing with figures of 6/44. The match saw both teams amassing just 506 runs across four innings, which happens to be the lowest match aggregate involving India U19 and Australia U19 so far. The 2-0 result in India U19’s favour is another feather in the cap for young skipper Mhatre, especially since the series was in Down Under. The last Youth Test series against the England Lions had ended in a draw, with both games seeing no results.
