Vidarbha cricket team ensured that they finished with a 224-run lead in their 2nd innings after outclassing Rest of India on Day 3 of Irani Cup 2025. Resuming their innings at 142/5, ROI captain Rajat Patidar continued to play the lone warrior role, scoring 66 runs while the rest of the bating order crumbled. At the end of the day, Ranji Trophy champions VID managed to get to 96/2 at the end of play on Day 3, with Dhruv Shore (24*) and Danish Malewar (16*) staying unbeaten.
VID dominate ROI
Resuming their innings at 142/5, ROI hardly managed to make any progress. Manav Suthar was the first batter to depart on Day 3 followed by which Y Thakur got rid of Saransh Jain with a brilliant yorker. It did not not take long after that for Vidarbha to wrap up the Rest of India innings as they were bowled out for 69.5 overs. Thakur finished with 4 wickets to his name while Rekhade and Dubey finished with 2 each and Thakare and Nalkande bagged one each.
In response, the centurion in the 1st innings – Atharva Taide (15) – was the first to depart. A Mokhade (37) was the only other batter to depart. VID finished at 96/2, with the team leading by 224 runs.
After being bowled out for 342 runs earlier on Day 2, VID bowlers struggled to get an early breakthrough as Abhimanyu Easwaran scored a brilliant half-century. However, the Ranji Trophy champions were quick to pulls things back, with ROI going from 94/2 at Tea to 142/5 at the end of the Day 2.
