India cricket team star KL Rahul ended his close to 9-year-wait to score a hundred at home as he breached the triple figure mark in the IND vs WI 1st Test. The last time the opener scored a century in India was way back in December 2016 against England, which also happened to be the same match in which he narrowly missed out on a double hundred. Rahul is currently India’s second highest run-getter in Tests in 2025.

Rahul took 190 deliveries to reach the triple-figure mark, helping India extend their 1st innings lead in the IND vs WI 1st Test. The century in Ahmedabad marked the Karnataka batter’s 11th in Tests, out of which 9 have come outside India. Rahul struck 12 boundaries en route to his century as his fine form continued.
His hundred at home came after a gap of 3211 days, the longest such gap for an Indian batter, the previous longest being Ashwin’s 2655 days between 2013 & 2021.
