Tamil Nadu star Sai Kishore has revealed that former India captain MS Dhoni would leave his mobile phone behind in the hotel room and come to play matches. His remarks come in the context of many former cricketers complaining that the ex-CSK captain was never easily accessible. Hailing MSD as an inspiration, Kishore shed light on how Dhoni’s antics had benefitted him.
Kishore inspired by Dhoni’s mobile phone antics
In an interview with Provoke TV, Kishore said that he had learnt a lot from MS Dhoni, revealing that the stalwart neither used to pick calls nor used to carry his phone for games. Hailing the detachment displayed by the former Indian captain, the Tamil Nadu spinner said that it had inspired him to be away from social media and focus on the game instead.
“I have learnt a lot about this from MS Dhoni. He would never pick up his phone. He used to leave his phone in his hotel room and come for the games. That’s how detached he would be. This inspired me because I used to ask myself if being involved in social media is needed. So looking at him inspired me,” Kishore said.
Sai Kishore’s IPL career began in 2020 when he was purchased for Rs 20 lakh by CSK. However, he warmed the bench throughout as he didn’t get a single match to feature in. He was then purchased by Gujarat Titans in the auction before IPL 2022 following which he started to feature for the side regularly in the IPL.
He was arguably one of the best bowlers for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 where he finished with 19 wickets from 15 games, faring better than his teammate Rashid Khan. He wasn’t a part of the South Zone’s squad for Duleep Trophy neither has was included in India A squads for the multi-day games and one-day games against Australia A.
