India cricket team opener KL Rahul’s fine form continues as he slammed yet another half-century in IND vs WI 1st Test in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Having already scored 2 half-centuries already in this year, the Karnataka batter added another to his tally, taking 101 balls to reach the milestone. Rahul is currently India’s second highest run-getter in Tests in 2025 with 600 runs to his name, only behind captain Shubman Gill.
Consistent Rahul slams another 50
Rahul had an outstanding series in England where he finished with two centuries and two fifties to his name. His fine form has now spilt over to the series against the West Indies where he has once again proved why he is one of the best openers for India in Tests at the moment. Rahul took 101 deliveries to reach his half-century, striking just six boundaries.
| Match | Runs |
| IND vs AUS 5th Test | 4, 13 |
| IND vs ENG 1st Test | 42, 137 |
| IND vs ENG 2nd Test | 2, 55 |
| IND vs ENG 3rd Test | 100, 39 |
| IND vs ENG 4th Test | 46, 90 |
| IND vs ENG 5th Test | 14, 7 |
| IND vs WI 1st Test | 51* |
The fifty also meant Rahul surpassed the 600-run mark in a year in Tests for the first time since 2017 where he had amassed 633 runs. He averages 50 in 2025 currently and has plenty of games to very well go past the 700-run mark for the first time in his career as well. Apart from another innings in the 1st Test against West Indies, there is also the IND vs WI 2nd Test followed by the IND vs SA Tests where he can amass more runs.
Rahul will be now aiming to convert is fifty into a hundred which will mark his first at home since 2016 and his second-ever in India only. Overall, he has 10 hundreds out of which 9 have come in overseas conditions.
In the five-match Test series against England, Rahul managed to make 40+ scores 6 out of the 10 times he played. He fared poorly only in the 2nd innings of the 2nd Test and the 5th Test. Prior to the IND vs WI Test series, he also featured in a multi-day game between India A and Australia A where he registered scores of 11 and 176*.
