Vidarbha have put themselves in the driver’s seat at the end of Day 2 of Irani Cup 2025 as Rest of India have lost half their side. After being bowled out for 342 runs earlier in the day, VID bowlers struggled to get an early breakthrough as Abhimanyu Easwaran scored a brilliant half-century. However, the Ranji Trophy champions were quick to pulls things back, with ROI going from 94/2 at Tea to 142/5 at the end of the day’s play. Patidar stays unbeaten on 42 runs as ROI trail VID by 200 runs.
ROI collapse after good start
Rest of India opener Abhimanyu Easwaran slammed a sublime half-century and ensured that the side got off to a good start. His 112-ball 52-run knock was studded with 6 fours. However, a 52-run opening partnership between Easwaran and his partner Juyal came to an end as the latter was the first to depart in the final delivery of the 20th over.
Yash Dhull’s (11) stay in the middle was also short-lived as he was stumped out by Harsh Dubey. From then on, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Big stars like Ruturaj Gaikwad (9), Ishan Kishan (1) simply failed to fire, leaving ROI at a perilous position.
Captain Rajat Patidar then waged a lone-warrior battle, as he stayed unbeaten on 42 runs at the end of the day’s play. Rekhade bagged two wickets while Thakur, Nalkande and Dubey managed to get one wicket each.
Taide fails to convert 100 to 150
Vidarbha resumed their innings at 280/5 on Day 2 of the Irani Cup 2025, with Atharva Taide and Thakur resuming play for the Ranji Trophy champions. Thakur (11) was the first to depart as Anshul Kamboj drew first blood following which Harsh Dubey was dismissed for a golden duck in the very next over by Akash Deep.
Nalkande (20) and Taide (143) stitched together a 37-run partnership in a bid to steady the ship. However, they were dismissed in quick succession as Brar and Saransh Jain struck. Eventually, Vidarbha’s innings was wrapped up for 342 runs. Akash Deep and Manav Suthar finished with 3 wickets each while Jain bagged 2.
