In a move that no one saw coming, ILT20 team Sharjah Warriorz have roped in former India keeper Dinesh Karthik for their upcoming season, ahead of the auction. The Indian veteran has replaced Kusal Mendis. “I am very excited to be joining the Sharjah Warriorz team for the ILT20 tournament. I know they are a young team, aspiring to do some special things, and I am happy to be here. Sharjah is also one of those iconic stadiums one always wants to play at. And to be a part of the franchise Sharjah Warriorz, makes a dream come true.”
Dinesh Karthi Joins ILT20
On the other hand, head coach JP Duminy too was chuffed on the inclusion of Karthik into the side. He said, “Dinesh Karthik is one of the most experienced hands and an incredibly innovative mind when it comes to T20 cricket, and I am chuffed to have him in our corner for the upcoming edition. His explosive batting, dynamic personality, and immense experience will surely benefit the younger players significantly during the course of the tournament.”

Meanwhile, ILT20 is set to begin later in the year, where Dinesh Karthik’s contribution for Sharjah could come in handy. He has played 412 T20s till now in his career, and scored 7537 runs at an average of 27. He also has 35 fifties to his name. In addition he brings a lot of value with his wicket-keeping, picking up 236 catches, and effecting 72 stumpings.
Karthik, after retirement has taken a coaching role with RCB, and played a key role in taking the franchise to their maiden title in IPL 2025. The tournament starts on December 2.
