India cricket team star Hardik Pandya is unlikely to take part in the three-match ODI series against Australia which is scheduled to begin from October 19. Hardik Pandya to miss IND vs AUS ODIs
As per Dainik Jagaran, BCCI sources have claimed that Hardik has been advised four weeks of rest to recover from a left quadriceps injury. The report states that while he won’t be able to play in the ODI series, there are chances of him featuring in the T20Is that follow – provided he recovers in time. The report also states that the BCCI medical team is yet to submit its report on Hardik and that a clear picture over the star’s status will emerge only after that.
Hardik, who has played 94 ODIs, has emerged as a frontline bowler for India in the 50-over format. He has 1904 runs and 91 wickets to his name in the limited overs format. His absence from the Australia tour will mean India will now have to look for a like for like replacement – an all-rounder like Nitish Kumar Reddy.
In Asia Cup, Hardik served as Bumrah’s second fiddle and finished with 4 wickets to his name. He did get a of time with the bat and managed to score just 48 runs in the limited opportunities he got.
The ODI series against Australia will start from October 19 onwards and will conclude on October 25. That will be followed by a five-match T20I series from October 29 to November 8. The series will also mark the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to international cricket for the first time since Champions Trophy.
