India cricket team star Jasprit Bumrah gave Haris Rauf a fitting reply with a ‘plane crash’ celebration of his own in the IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2025 final. The Pakistan pacer had earlier been fined 30% of his match fees for making a gesture in the Super Fours clash against the Men in Blue on September 21. Well, Bumrah didn’t take it too kindly as he gave it back to Rauf after dismissing him in the final on Sunday.
Bumrah gives Rauf fitting plane crash reply
Bumrah did have the last laugh against Haris Rauf as he uprooted his off-stump in the 19th over of the IND vs PAK clash on Sunday. He followed it up with a brief ‘plane crash’ gesture following which he celebrated with the rest of his teammates. Rauf was forced to walk back after scoring just 6 off 4 balls, and just three deliveries after striking Bumrah for a four.
Rauf was punished for gestures made and for the use of abusive language during the IND vs PAK Super Fours clash on September 21. He was involved in a verbal exchange with India’s openers, showed gestures to fans near the boundary, and was reported for abusive language. The ‘6-0’ and ‘plane’ gestures were also politically charged as Rauf tried to take a dig at the Indian soldiers.
The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi was initially supposed to pay Rauf’s fine from his own pocket. However, the board decided to appeal against the sanctions imposed by the ICC just before the IND vs PAK tie on Sunday.
After getting off to a good start in the Asia Cup final, Pakistan went from 113/2 in 12.5 overs to 146/1 in 19.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav finished with an outstanding spell of 4/30 while Bumrah, Chakravarthy and Axar finished with figures of 2/25, 2/30 and 2/26 respectively.
