India cricket team have reportedly denied wanting to do a photoshoot with Pakistan before the Asia Cup 2025 final. As per convention, captains Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha were required to pose together with the trophy before the IND vs PAK title clash. However, given the ongoing tensions between the two countries, the Men in Blue have decided to opt against doing the photoshoot.
India, Pakistan captains’ photoshoot cancelled
As per News24, Team India have reportedly communicated that they are not interested in the photoshoot with Pakistan before the Asia Cup final. This comes after the Indian captain and the team refused to shake hands with Pakistan in both the games that the two side played previously. The handshake snub snowballed into a huge controversy, with the PCB lodging a protest with the ICC and demanding the removal of Andy Pycroft as the match referee.
While the ICC categorically rejected all of Pakistan’s demands after going back and forth with the PCB, another controversy broke out during the IND vs PAK Super Fours clash on September 21. Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan were charged after the former made disgraceful gestures while the latter did a gun celebration. Rauf was fined 30% of his match fee while Farhan was reprimanded. On the other hand, Pakistan lodged a complaint after captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the win to the the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. He too was fined.
However, both the BCCI and the PCB have decided to appeal against the sanctions imposed on their respective players. While there is still visible tensions between both the teams, it remains to be seen what will happen when India face Pakistan for the third time in the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday.
