Pakistan to appeal against sanctions on Haris Rauf for disgraceful gestures in IND vs PAK

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was fined 30% of his match fee for his behaviour in the IND vs PAK Super Fours clash in Asia Cup on September 21

The Pakistan Cricket Board will reportedly appeal against the sanctions imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Haris Rauf. The pacer was fined 30% of his match fee for his aggressive behaviour during the Super Four clash in Dubai. While reports earlier on Saturday claimed that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi will pay the fine from his own pocket, it has now emerged as the PCB will contest the decision of the ICC.

As per RevSportz, the PCB will appeal for Rauf after he was punished for gestures made and for the use of abusive language during the IND vs PAK Super Fours clash on September 21. He was involved in a verbal exchange with India’s openers, showed gestures to fans near the boundary, and was reported for abusive language. The ‘6-0’ and ‘plane’ gestures were also politically charged as Rauf tried to take a dig at the Indian soldiers.

Meanwhile, reports claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also decided to appeal against the verdict on captain Suryakumar Yadav.  SKY was charged for his post-match remarks after India’s group-stage win on September 14, when he dedicated the victory to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and the armed forces.

An official ruling on the appeal is likely only after the tournament finishes after September 28. Initially, it was reported that the ICC has not charged anything against Suryakumar.

India and Pakistan will lock horns for the third time in a month when the two sides meet in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai on Sunday.
