India cricket team have rested Jasprit Bumrah and Shivam Dube in their final Super 4 tie against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav lost the toss and was put in to bat first by SL skipper Charith Asalanka. India are already through to the final of Asia Cup 2025, having remained unbeaten so far in the tournament.

India decided to make two changes to their line-up – resting Bumrah and Dube before the all-important final against Pakistan on September 29. Instead, the pacer duo for Rana and Arshdeep have been included in the XI. Of course, it naturally makes sense to give ace speedster Bumrah some rest before the final, since he has played 4 out of 5 games so far in the tournament. With Bumrah set to feature in the IND vs WI Test series as well, it only makes sense to bench him for an unimportant clash before the Asia Cup final.
“Just continue doing what we have been doing. We were actually looking to bat first. Good atmosphere, good game and we are looking forward to it. It is part of the game (dropped catches). We have two changes – Bumrah and Dube are out, Arshdeep and Harshit come in,” captain SKY said at the toss.
Meanwhile, it is about time to give Arshdeep a game. Being India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, the southpaw has played just one game in the ongoing Asia Cup. The left-arm pacer will be aiming to add more wickets to his tally as he aims to become India’s most successful wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game.
