IND A vs AUS A: KL Rahul to bat on last day to save India A after retiring hurt

India A need 243 runs on the last day to win the second unofficial Test against Australia A.

In a fresh development, KL Rahul is touted to overcome an injury scare and is likely to turn up on an exciting Day 4 of the second four-day game between India A and Australia A. The star Indian batter was mysteriously retired hurt on Day 3 despite looking in exquisite touch. He made a handsome 74, the most by any Indian in the innings, before he walked out of the ground with physio. It was the major headline on Day 3 as India A eye a huge target of 412 in the fourth innings.

Rahul, who is part of the Indian squad selected for the two Test matches against the West Indies, is playing the second unofficial Test against Australia A to get a much-needed game time. Currently, he isn’t a part of the Indian T20 setup that is emroiled in the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE.

Meanwhile, in Lucknow, an exciting bunch of talent is partaking in this unofficial four-day Test. After registering just 11 in the first innings, Rahul now has an opportunity not only have a hundred for him but also save the match for India A, who need 243 more runs to clinch the match and the series.

All is fine with KL Rahul

For that, Rahul needs to turn up to bat and he is likely to. According to a Times of India journalist, Rahul will bat today and got retired hurt due to a “precautionary measure”. After the news broke out that KL Rahul has decided to walk away in the middle of the innings, it sparked huge concerns considering India’s next Test assignment starts within the next 6 days. The Karnataka batter is a mainstay in the team as he will open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.

As for India A, Manav Suthar joined Sai Sudharsan in the middle as the duo sought out a tricky phase at the end of Day 3. Now, with eight wickets in hand, India A will fancy their chances to script a remarkable comeback in the game. Mind you, India A were bundled out for a mere 194 in the first innings. Incidentally, Prasidh Krishna copped a blow on his head in the first innings, forcing him to get substituted (as a concussion sub) by Yash Thakur. Thankfully, the injury didn’t rule Krishna out of the Indian Test squad.
