Jasprit Bumrah castles Mohammad Kaif over “inaccurate” claim on bowling strategy

Jasprit Bumrah castles Mohammad Kaif over "inaccurate" claim on bowling strategy

Mohammad Kaif in his tweet suggested that Jasprit Bumrah bowling three overs upfront was harming India's chances.

It is not very often that the Indian players respond to what the experts have to say on social media. But then it seems Jasprit Bumrah couldn’t hold himself back over a remark made by former India batter Mohammad Kaif. In a tweet directed towards Bumrah, the ex-player insinuated that the bowler now bowls three overs at the start, “while he is warmed up”.

Bumrah silences Kaif

He wrote, “Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in Asia cup, he bowled a three-overs spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days, prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters, against stronger teams at World Cup, this could hurt India.”

Bowler available for both Tests against WI

But then the pacer did not like this and termed it inaccurate. He responded, “Inaccurate before, inaccurate again.” He meant that Kaif’s analysis was not correct on an earlier occasion as well. This response comes at a time when everyone has questioned Bumrah’s inclusion in Asia Cup, and even playing the UAE match.

Meanwhile, he has been also selected for the West Indies series, that begins on October 2. The selectors clarified that Bumrah is available for selection in both the Tests. In the ongoing Asia Cup, he has picked up five wickets in four matches, and was rested in the clash against Oman.

Team India has already made it to the final of the tournament, and will play the winners of the match between Bangladesh and Pakistan. They are yet to lose a match in Asia Cup 2025.
