Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan was left out of the 15-man squad for the India vs West Indies Test series which was announced on Thursday. The domestic run-machine last featured in a Test for India back in November 2024 in the series at home against New Zealand. Despite shedding 17 kilos before the IND vs ENG series, he was snubbed and now, he has once again been left out of the squad.
Sarfaraz Khan snubbed once again
Speaking at a press conference, chief selector Ajit Agakrar explained that Sarfaraz was injured and hence he wasn’t considered for selection for the IND vs WI Test series. As per Times of India, the Mumbai batter is expected to make his comeback only by October 15 in the Ranji Trophy.
“Sarfaraz is injured,” Agarkar said in the press conference while unveiling the squad.
Having gone unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction and after being snubbed from the side in Australia, Sarfaraz commenced his preparation to make a Test comeback earlier in May. However, he wasn’t selected for the 5-match series in England. Khan then featured in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, following which he was supposed to take part in the Duleep Trophy.
However, Sarfaraz sustained a quadriceps injury in the game against Haryana in the Buchi Babu Tournament. As a result, he couldn’t be a part of the West Zone team in the Duleep Trophy. It remains to be seen when Khan will make his comeback to the Indian Test side. After the IND vs WI series, the next home series will be against South Africa in November.
