Prasidh Krishna suffers injury scare before IND vs WI Tests, retires hurt in India A match

Prasidh Krishna was batting at 16 (25) when a bouncer from Henry Thornton struck him on his head.

Despite his lack of control, Prasidh Krishna impressed on the England tour. The tall pacer bowled waywardly more often than he, the Indian management, or fans would have liked, but the end result was positive. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, Prasidh stepped up alongside Mohammed Siraj.

Prasidh Krishna suffers concussion

However, the hit-the-deck fast bowler might be out of India’s next Test series against the West Indies. While playing for India A, Prasidh was struck on the head. In the 39th over of the second innings, Australia A’s Henry Thornton hit the 29-year-old on his helmet with a sharp bouncer.

According to Sportstar, the mandatory concussion test was performed by the physio. Prasidh cleared it and continued to bat. But, after three overs (42nd), the pacer didn’t feel well and walked off the field. Mohammed Siraj replaced him on the field, partnering with Sai Sudharsan.

After Siraj and Sudharsan both departed, Yash Thakur came to bat as the concussion substitute for Prasidh. This means that the 29-year-old won’t further participate in the India A vs Australia A match. He had earlier bowled 17 overs and taken 1 wicket, but that’ll be all for Prasidh.

Out of IND vs WI Tests?

This also raises a question about his selection for the upcoming India vs West Indies Test series. Although Bumrah has made himself available, it’s uncertain whether the selectors will pick him or not since he’s currently playing in the Asia Cup. In that case, Akash Deep and Prasidh would have been part of the squad along with Siraj. But Prasidh’s injured as well, so someone else might just come in.
