The West Indies Cricket team will hold a six-day training camp in Ahmedabad to gear up for the IND vs WI Test series. The Men in Maroon will take on India in a two-match series that begins from October 2 onwards. WI, who started off their World Test Championship 2025/27 cycle on a losing note with a series loss against Australia, won’t be taking India lightly, especially in the sub-contient.
6-day camp for West Indies before IND vs WI Tests
As per Cricbuzz, West Indies have informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) that a six-day camp will be held in Ahmedabad between September 24-29. The camp will provide much-needed exposure of the conditions for the Windies are they will lock horns with Shubman Gill and co. at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad from Oct 2 onwards.
“We have a team that we expect to perform well, in particular a quite exciting fast bowling attack. We are there from September 24 through to the first Test,” CWI CEO Christ Dehring said.
Recently, West Indies head coach Darren Sammy had remarked that WI bowlers have the capability to take 20 wickets against India. He said that the team wants to take inspiration from New Zealand like how they did last year and hand India an upset.
“We’re definitely going down there with the mindset to win. We’re not just going to go down there and think, “oh, it’s India”. No. New Zealand went there and did incredibly well and that we should take inspiration from. But again, it’s understanding the things that New Zealand did in those conditions and try to emulate it with our guys as well,” said Sammy.
While WI will gear up for the series with a 6-day camp, Team India are expected to assemble in Ahmedabad by September 29, a day after the Asia Cup final.
