Shubman Gill’s return to the T20I side has not gone as per plan. The opener has suffered a rut in Asia Cup 2025, with yet another poor show in the IND vs OMAN clash. While the match presented an opportunity for Gill to plunder some runs, he was cleaned up by a peach early in the powerplay.
Castled! Shubman Gill’s horrid Asia Cup 2025 continues
Shubman Gill was dimissed in both of India’s games failing to convert his starts. While Abhishek Sharma has set the tournament alight, Gill has struggled to match up on his return to the side. With qualification secured and a battle against minnows Oman, the expectation was that the Indian vice-captain makes the most of the chance.
However, the 26-year-old lasted all but 8 deliveries. Gill scored 5 before being clean bowled by an asolute peach by Shah Faisal. The left-arm seamer got the ball to move around deviously, accounting for the gap between Gill’s bat and pad. Faisal eventually ended up with a maiden, with No.3 Sanju Samson also playing him out cautiously. It marked the first time an associate bowler chipped in with a maiden over against India in T20Is.
