Who is going to be the next BCCI president? Well, the cat will be out of the bag by September 28 when the announcement is going to be made. But before the big reveal is done, as per a report in Cricbuzz, the top BCCI bosses are all set to have a meeting with the BJP top-brass in Delhi on September 20, where some important calls could be taken.
Sourav Ganguly vs Harbhajan Singh for Next Prez
The report also adds that the meeting would be informal, but would take place at the residence of the Home Minister Amit Shah. For the unversed, former president of the BCCI N Srinivasan has lashed out at Sourav Ganguly over his tenure, at a similar meeting in 2022.
Yes, there are also speculations that Ganguly might just get the top post again, but nothing can be said with clarity. The name of Harbhajan Singh is also doing the rounds. Other names include Karnataka’s Raghuram Bhatt, and also Kiran More. There is no surety if one of these names will be zeroed in, or someone else would be picked, but looks like, it will be an ex-player of repute, as has been the norm for the last few times.
Ruling Party to Have a Say?
For now, Roger Binny has been in power since 2022, preceded by Ganguly from 2019-2022. On the other hand, The BCCI is also conducting the interviews for the selectors post for the Central Zone and the South Zone. It is expected that Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh’s names are finalised, but still, the CAC, led by Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjpe, are holding online interviews.
