The India vs Pakistan handshake controversy is going a little out of hand here. The PCB has upped the ante on the matter, and after lodging a protest against India with the match referee, they have demanded that Andy Pycroft be removed from the panel of referees for the Asia Cup.
No Handshake with India a Bigger Issue
“The PCB has lodged a complaint with the ICC regarding violations by the Match Referee of the ICC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws pertaining to the Spirit of Cricket. The PCB has demanded an immediate removal of the Match Referee from the Asia Cup,” wrote PCB head Mohsin Naqvi.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, it seems that allegedly, Pycroft sided with one team and asked one team, not to shake hands. Now, to make matters worse, Pakistan could potentially be looking to boycott their next match against the UAE on September 17. That is, if Andy Pycroft is not removed.

The drams had started right after the match, where team manager had lodged a strong protest, after the Indian players did not shake hands with Pakistan. “Team manager Naveed Cheema lodged a strong protest against Indian players’ behaviour of not shaking hands. It was deemed as unsporting and against the spirit of the game. As a protest we did not send our captain to the post match ceremony,” the Pakistan team management said.
As far as the match is concerned, the Pakistanis were first reduced to 127, and then Suryakumar Yadav’s team went to complete the chase in only 15.5 overs. This was India’s second win in as many matches, and now could meet Pakistan in the Super 4 stage on September 21.
